RSLinx Classic defaults to starting as an application. If RSLinx Classic is running as a service, there is no graphical user interface (GUI). If you need to configure RSLinx Classic, you must be in application mode. To switch between running as a service or application use the RSLinx Classic Launch Control Panel.
Start>All Programs>Rockwell Software>RSLinx>RSLinx Classic Launch Control Panel
thanks a lot
ReplyDeleteit works for me!
Excelent!!! I tried everything with no result... thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteI am using RSLinx Gateway as a ControlLogix to OPC interface. I use Excel to check my tags and connection. When I run as a service, Excel won't poll data. I need RSLinx to start as a service so that it always starts up. Stupid windows 7. My XP laptop always runs as a service and I can use Excel to read tags in my PLC.
ReplyDeleteHi Danny,
Deletehave you got any solution for this. please help me if you already solved this issue.

Thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteI'm running Windows 7 and did not have a problem until a recent RS software update. RSLinx was running OK as a service, but couldn't open RSLinx to change config. Looks like the update switched it to running as a service.
Wow, wasted an hour on this, simple thing but with Rockwell one check box can ruin your day.
ReplyDeleteThis issue is related to the changes Microsoft has made to their Operating Systems (as of Windows 7 and Server 2008). For security purposes applications which run in "Session 1" cannot interact with programs that run as a Service in what's known as "Session 0".
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot. I uninstalled/re-installed it several times before...
ReplyDeleteYou're a Prince! Thanks TechDog!
